ABOUT US

A small traditional Kentish mixed farm settled in the heart of the Garden of England

Owned and farmed by our family since 1866 and now worked by the Sixth generation of our family, Tristan and his wife Claudine and their two children Evelyn and George.

Only our family work on the farm and we work tirelessly using traditional animal rearing methods (yes the animals get to see real grass!) to produce the very best quality Pork, Beef and Lamb for local markets and for our wonderful Horlands Farm customers.

Over the years we have farmed sympathetically with nature and due to this philosophy our land today is made up of a patchwork of grassland pastures, hedgerows, ponds and mature trees and fruit orchards.

Since taking over the farm in 2017 Tristan and Claudine are looking to sustain and protect the farm for the future by not only continuing to farm the land traditionally but by diversification into tourism and endeavoring to educate the future generations about the life on the farm.

The Workforce

Tristan Russell

Farm Manager and Owner

From a young age Tristan had a desire to work in the farm particularly with the livestock. He enjoys woodwork and construction projects, one of his biggest to date being Cedars Equestrian. The sixth generation of the family to take over the farm, he hopes to carry on the good work of his predecessors, to improve the farm, environment and wildlife and hopes to pass it on to future generations.
